Visva Bharati University Examinations

The university follows a semester system. At the end of each semester, end-term exams are conducted for the assessment of students.

  • Odd semester (I, III, V, etc.) exams for all undergraduate and postgraduate programs are conducted in November/December in two shifts.
  • End-semester exams for all even semesters (II, IV, VI, etc.) for UG and PG courses are organized in April/May in two different shifts.

Before appearing in the semester exams, students are required to fill out an online application form and submit the prescribed examination fee. After registration, university authorities issue Admit Cards to the students, which they must bring to the examination center on the exam day. Without a valid admit card, no student is allowed to enter the exam hall and write the exam.

The university declares the results for all odd semester exams conducted in November/December by January. The results for even semester exams are released in July/August.

All results are declared only through online mode, so students must check the results on the university’s official website. About Visva Bharati University

Visva Bharati University is a Central University and an “Institution of National Importance” located in Santiniketan, West Bengal. It was founded in 1921 by Rabindranath Tagore and named Visva Bharati by him. In 1951, it was declared a Central University by an “Act of Parliament.”

The university has two campuses located at Santiniketan and Sriniketan. It comprises 12 institutes, 16 centers, and around 57 faculty departments. It offers numerous certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs in various fields such as arts, science, commerce, management, and technology. Along with academics, the university is well known for its cultural programs like Poush Mela and Basant Utsav.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked the university 48th overall and 31st among universities in India in 2018. Notable alumni include Mahasweta Devi, Satyendra Nath Bose, Amartya Sen, Satyajit Ray, Savitri Devi, and R. Siva Kumar.

Visva Bharati University Admission Procedure

VBU grants admissions to students based on entrance tests and merit. Admissions are open to both national and international students. To get admission into the university, students must fill out an online application form. The application forms are available in May, and information regarding the entrance examination is updated on the university admission portal (i.e., Candidates must carry all required documents at the time of admission. The new session of the university commences in July/August every year.
